Folder2Drive v1.07

Folder2Drive v1.07

If you have very deep directories (directories with many sub directories inside sub directories), you may find it easier to create a logical drive that points to the directory you want to work in. On the other hand, you may want to simply create aliases to existing drives for those programs looking for a particular drive. Whichever the reason you want to create a logical drive, you can do so using the Folder2Drive application.

Folder2Drive is typically used in three circumstances:

1. To simplify referencing commonly used paths. Perhaps all data kept in the c:program filesmyfiles directory would be assigned to M:.
2. To simplify (and shorten) PATH statements. If several paths to be included in the search path have parts of their structure in common, it can make things simpler if the common part is assigned a substitute drive letter.
3. Some programs insist on running from a particular drive, even when that drive is not available or inconvenient to use. The path to be actually used can be assigned to the letter of the drive required.

Folder2Drive has been found very useful way of organising hard drives - it is much more flexible than partitioning (even with tools like Partition Magic).

Folder2Drive does not copy files from your directories to a virtual drive. It makes a mapping between the folder you select and the virtual drive you create. So if you delete a file from the virtual drive it will be automatically deleted from your folder as well (and vice versa).
